Packaging Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Innovation and Product Development teams in designing, developing, evaluating and testing packaging for new and existing products
  • Work closely with suppliers to aid all corporate packaging needs including supplier changes, qualifying and testing new packaging materials, and troubleshooting
  • Develop and manage line trials to test new structural design, material, or vendor changes
  • Conduct packaging testing and how they pertain to storage, handling, and distribution
  • Maintain packaging specifications database
  • Establishing standard specifications for packaging of new products
  • Conduct tests and evaluations of alternative packaging materials
  • Liaison between Operations, Marketing and Packaging suppliers in the design of point of purchase displays
  • Complete packaging in Product development Brief
  • Complete Word Orders for co-packing
  • Work with suppliers to get timely sign off on packaging specifications
  • Update and maintain the shipping dimensions spreadsheet
  • Organize packaging specs and die-lines.
  • Support Purchasing in any cost savings initiatives
  • Research and present new innovative packaging technologies
  • Provide guidance and expertise on sustainable packaging initiatives to Iovate teams
  • Support current Iovate packaging sustainability efforts by managing any related inquiries in a timely manner
  • Sign off on artwork die-lines at both preliminary and final stages
  • Work with co-manufacturers and co-packers to evaluate analytical packaging testing
  • Approve first production run master case labels
  • Other role related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Packaging or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years of related experience preferably within a consumer-packaged goods environment
  • Proactive and able to continuously manage change in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment
  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Tops
  • Travel within Canada and the United States of America
  • Access to a vehicle to travel within the GTA to conduct site visits
