National Account Manager, Walmart Channel

As a National Account Manager at Iovate, your role will be to develop a business development plan for each customer annually, and execute the components/initiatives of this plan in collaboration with the customer.


  • Manage and New Business of key account portfolios
  • Ability to speak fluent Spanish is considered a strong asset
  • Main focus will be selling major Iovate branded products in addition to developing and executing sales strategies such as promotions, programs and product launch plans
  • Manage complete Account Plan and customer planning process including:
    • Yearly budget
    • Sales strategies (programs and promotions)
    • Pricing (new product launches and monthly retail pricing)
    • Proposing and approval on advertising, distribution and MMI agreements
    • Inventory forecasting
    • Assist in coordinating production plans and shipments with Customer Service and Production.
    • Tracking customer trends towards targets (spend/investments)
  • Meet and exceed sales targets
  • Frequent communication with external and internal stakeholders to help meet the customers’ expectations when delivering and developing new formulas for their markets
  • Represent the customer and work with all key internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of necessary product materials to all accounts on regular basis and upon product launches (i.e. labels, renderings, POS material files, information presentations)
  • Manage business proposals within current portfolio
  • Demonstrate meticulous and timely follow-up with new and existing clients
  • Develop deep understanding of client needs and their core business
  • Develop and maintain detailed understanding of market environment for all accounts
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual commitments as outlined in the annual budgeting process
  • Investigate international market potential and survey/plan key customer pursuits
    • Build International market penetration and launch strategies (new brands/countries)
      • Develop pricing, promotion and product selection
      • Work with Regulatory Affairs to secure all necessary documentation to distribute in respective country
  • Work closely with Marketing team to understand brand strategy and market specific positioning
  • Develop new products and brands (work with Brand Management and R&D on new formulas, packaging, romance copy, pricing, market strategy and launch tactics)
  • Provide direction and/or provide written content for trade marketing material (ads, vendor spotlights, product features, etc.)
  • Work with internal team to specify project budgets
  • Assist in writing proposals and project briefs for presentation to clients; design presentations
  • Conduct National and Regional Manager and Sales Associate training seminars on current product offerings
  • Execute retail level product demos, store takeovers and athlete appearances
  • Work closely with our US Field team to provide strategic guidance, account plan updates, monthly focus and direction, competitive product information and store audits information
  • Provide weekly sales reports for Executive team including WoW, Period and YTD performance
  • Work closely with Executive team to provide in depth account review, sales performance, new programs and alignment on promotions
  • Other role related duties as assigned

Core Competencies:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Sales, Business or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of direct selling and account management experience preferably within a consumer packaged goods environment
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of National account management experience
  • Knowledge of various customer bases (brokers and retailers) in Vitamin, Health, Gym, Military, Mass, Food, Drug and/or Convenience areas
  • Knowledge of and understand account planning processes (planning, objective setting, presentations, and administration)
  • Knowledge of Sports Supplements and Nutritional products an asset
  • Strong written, communication, selling and presentation skills; solid business analysis skills
  • Product and customer base knowledge is an asset
  • This position requires occasional travel which at times might be for extended periods of time
  • Proactive and able to continuously manage change in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
