Financial Analyst Manager, International

Accountabilities:

General Accountabilities

  • Partner with the International Sales team and provide strategic Financial support, enabling profitable long-term growth
  • Lead the financial planning, analytics and insights and financial direction for the International Sales team
  • Work with the business team to drive customer & market knowledge, insights and processes to profitably drive the business forward
  • Develop a strong understanding of the International market, product portfolio and market trends in order to help drive the International business unit strategy and decisions on route-to-market
  • Other position related ad hoc projects as assigned

Budgeting and Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecast process for the International business unit, inclusive of developing expectations with the International team around revenue (Brand and Category growth rates), margin, marketing investment and SG&A
  • Liaise with various business teams, including Brand and Operations, to understand budgeting and forecast drivers and any changes in key factors such as innovation, market changes, product cost outlook, etc.
  • Partner with Sales and Demand Planning through the monthly demand planning process to review and assess the reasonability of revenue projections and material changes, as well as ongoing risks and opportunities assessments
  • Present the annual budget and quarterly forecast to Iovate’s Executive team, explaining key variances against prior plan/budget and prior year.  Provide a clear understanding of any challenges, actions to be taken as well as risks and opportunities for the year
  • Assist with the long range planning for the International business unit in conjunction with the aligned strategy and with the Commercial Finance Director and VP and GM, International

Analytics and Reporting

  • Deliver accurate, insightful and timely analysis of financial results. Perform investigation of variances, highlighting financial issues with strategic and operational impacts, and recommend options to resolve or address gaps
  • Present monthly executive presentations to the International Leadership team, explaining revenue, margin, direct contribution margin and SG&A performance against plan and prior year
  • Collaborate with various teams across the business, including Brand, Operations, FP&A, etc., to gather business drivers and insights to explain variances to plan, risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Corporate accounting team to ensure monthly accruals and revenue are complete and accurate
  • Provide action-based insights which drive improved business performance
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators as well as various metrics such as sell-thru, sell-in, customer inventory, forecasting accuracy, etc.
  • Create and manage standard analytical tools and reporting to provide insights by product category, region and customer (including customer scorecards)
  • Lead automation of reporting and data visualizations for the International business unit

Revenue and Margin Management

  • Provide strong pricing support and analysis to the International team;  Collaborate with the North American Commercial Finance team to ensure consistency in price points;  Review price sheet submissions for new and existing products
  • Provide guidance and direction on targeted actions for profitability and margin improvement – through new products & innovation, product price / format changes, product mix, product life cycle recommendations, promotions, etc.
  • Coordinate competitive pricing analysis through key International regions to drive pricing recommendations, understanding market performance, media & marketing support programs, competitor pricing and competitor product portfolios
  • Analyze customer specific reports to add quantitative insight to competitive movement
  • Aid in and support regular reports on customer profitability, versus budget performance on sell-in, and on previous year POS
  • Pre and Post Promotional analysis to determine estimated and actual ROI

Experience & Skillset:

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • CPA or equivalent accounting designation preferred (or in progress of obtaining)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience preferably within a consumer-packaged goods environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to partner with business teams
  • Ability to condense key messages/takeaways and communicate clearly to key stakeholders 
  • Demonstrate exceptionally strong analytical and team-player mentality
  • Must be highly conversant with MS Excel and be able to develop, implement, automate and maintain reports by using complex formulae (v-lookup, sum-if, formula in Pivot-table etc) – VBA and Macros considered an asset
  • Proactive and able to continuously manage change in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment
  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills and decision making capabilities
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
